Whereas a person with self-awareness is able to exercise a little meta-cognition and say, “Hmm… every time my sister calls me and asks for money, I end up drinking a lot of vodkas.

A while back I heard that the average American consumes more than four gallons of alcohol every year. I’ve got a feeling that if we all drank more, we would all be dead.

The problem is when we’re on autopilot for so long that we forget we’re on autopilot. Because when we’re not even aware of our own habits, routines, impulses, and reactions, then we no longer control them we control us. Whereas a person with self-awareness is able to exercise a little meta-cognition and say, Hmm..

Our habit of drinking a lot of vodkas may be a sign that we’re drinking to forget that we’re drunk.

The problem is that we’re not even aware of our habits, routines, impulses, and reactions. We’re so used to our habits, routines, impulses, and reactions that we don’t even know how to control them.

That’s why we tend to over-think. We have a hard time seeing our own thoughts and feelings because our minds have become hardwired to look at them as if they were just another set of habits and behaviors. Instead of thinking “I drink too much,” we’re more likely to think “I drink too much because I forgot that I can’t control my behavior.

We are, in a way, still on autopilot. The trick is to start thinking of the habits of others. We need to start noticing how we make ourselves feel and act, and then start thinking of ways to change our habits. When we start noticing our habitual behaviors, routines, impulses, and reactions, then we can start changing them. I have found that by noticing our habits, routines, impulses, and reactions, we tend to start changing them.

There are a few habits and routines that we all tend to have. For instance, we tend to be quite rigid in our expectations for how things should go in a given situation. If we don’t expect something to go as planned, chances are that things do not go as planned. This is a habit that we can change. For instance, when we get a new iPhone, we tend to expect it to be perfect.

Another habit we all tend to have is the tendency to think about things too much. If we think too much about something, it can be very difficult to change it.
