To turn comments on youtube, first go into your youtube settings, and tap on your comments. I find it helpful to use the three dots icon to highlight this action. Once that is done, tap the three dot icon again to start your comment.
When you’ve got comments turned on, you can start typing, and when you do, the comment box on your Youtube video will pop up. You’ll also be able to click to add videos to your comments.
The comments box is really a bit of a mess though. After I started typing (which is pretty much when you should be typing) I found I had to tap to view my comments, and if I didn’t tap it, the comment box wouldn’t appear. I guess the other way is to type it. But I don’t like tapping to view comments. What I also found a bit annoying is how long it takes to add a video to a comment.
You can check to see if someone has commented on your video by hovering their profile picture at the bottom of the window. If they have selected a comment, their video thumbnail will also pop onto the window. After this point, the comments box will be on and you can type in your comments, but you have to be quick. I tried typing and hitting enter and hit return and the comments box didnt appear, so I had to go to my youtube profile page to see if they had commented.
To create a new comment, use the URL below.
If you use the URL at the bottom of the window, you can create a comment but it won’t appear anywhere on your profile page. If you hit backspace and then hit enter, you can make a comment.
The comments box is a new feature of YouTube, and it’s one of those things that has been pretty underwhelming and underwhelmingly awesome at the same time. It’s easy to miss because you don’t always see it, but it’s pretty cool. We love videos like this on the site of late, but we have to say this is one of the best. It’s a little bit clunky for the eyes, but that’s part of its charm.
If you are a YouTube user, you have probably seen the comments box before. You can enable this feature by going to your profile and hitting backspace. If you hit enter, the box will appear on the right side of your profile. If you hit the little red arrow next to the box, you’ll be able to write a comment. I think this will be the first time I’ve ever seen a comment box that doesn’t look like a phone booth.
This feature is actually quite nice. It allows viewers to have a say in what videos they like, but I think that it will be more common for people to comment on videos they do NOT like, as opposed to commenting on a video they are actually enjoying.
