Using the term metric is also very helpful in regards to the way in which we use the word measurement. In this particular example, I am using the word metric to describe a type of measurement. I like it because it’s the most straightforward way to explain what it means.

This is called the area formula and it makes sense to me as a mathematician. I just do not know about the Pythagorean formula. The area is an area of the entire house, not just the area of the roof or the roof itself. I think it’s easier to see it as a question.
