I think that Instagram is a great way to keep contact with friends and family, but it is also a great way to meet strangers via a simple, easy-to-use and private messaging app.

It’s funny, we thought we’d try to keep it private until someone said something about it, but apparently when you do that it’s a bit more secure, and you don’t need to get too technical to know the details.

When a person sends a message it is automatically forwarded to the person with the link in a Facebook friend list. A person with a lot of friends on Facebook can send about fifty messages a day, so it’s a good idea to send them all in one go.

That particular message was sent only to the person who clicked on the link and they ended up being connected to a Facebook Page for that person which we have no idea about. The author of the link, however, seems to be a fairly reliable source of information.

We’ll be investigating this account in person. It may be worth it to go to the person in question and ask them about these fake pages if they have any to answer for.
