“msg” is a “generic” text string. It can be anything, but it usually means something. For example, “msg something” means to send a message to someone else. Another example is “msg my friend”. In this case, “my friend” is “me” and “friend” is “friend”. In general, you can use “msg” with anything, but it’s a bad idea to send something like “msg my friend” to your friend.

If you want to send a message to someone else, you can use the short form, but you should actually use the long form. The short form is less common, but you cannot send a message to a friend by using the short form.
