We all know that social media is the most powerful force in the world. We even hear it all day every day.
The problem is that companies, and particularly startups, can often be secretive about how they do things. This doesn’t necessarily limit their power, though. When companies put out transparently, it gives the world a chance to see how their ideas and their products are actually being used. So while we’re all excited to see what’s going on in the world of social media, we should also be careful not to let ourselves get overly excited.
The most transparent companies we know of are the ones that are the most secretive about things. We know that Facebook is a company that puts out their news feeds for everybody, but that doesnt mean they do it as a matter of course. Its a little more complicated than that. For instance, the Facebook page for a startup called Foursquare is pretty transparent, but most people who are using Foursquare haven’t actually used it in a while.
Because Foursquare is such a small and simple company, they may not be as transparent as an “other” large company like Google. But Facebook is the most transparent company we know of, so I think that says something about how many people use Facebook. I’m not saying that it’s good, but it’s not bad either.
Facebook’s main attraction is its sheer size. If you go to a company like Facebook you will find that Facebook is the most transparent company you want. At the start of the year, Facebook was the most transparent company we could find, but with the sudden death of Facebook a few weeks ago there’s no way of knowing how much of its platform and other tools were useful in the first five years it’s still alive.
In fact, if you look at the stats of the last few years, you will find that it has become much more difficult to keep track of what Facebook has been doing. It seems that the most important statistic to keep track of is the number of social networking people. Facebook has not only become the most transparent social networking company, but it also has a larger user base than either Microsofts Facebook, or Twitter, both of which were created around the same time.
Facebook had a major event recently where they took down the transparency of their users. They took down their Facebook account. They took down their public page. They took down their social networking website. They took down their transparency of their social networking company.
Facebook is a company and a product. They are transparent about themselves and their business when they have their own website, but they are not transparent when they are using a third party to do so.
I think that’s a fair point. I actually saw the same thing happen to Pinterest when they tried to take that transparency away. I think that’s why it was a big deal. It was a site that people who have a lot of social media followers could go to and ask questions about their business and company. They didn’t want to be in the middle of it and they didn’t want to be the first to get hit.
