In this case it seems to be very efficient because the goods and services we want to move from point A to point B are very expensive to move.
Competition is often the efficient way to make things cheaper, but monopolistic competition can be an efficient way to make things expensive. In this case, it seems to be efficient because the goods we want to move from point A to point B are expensive to move to make up for the cost of getting the goods from point A to point B.
There seems to be a lot of confusion in thinking about which of these two statements is most accurate. I don’t think it’s that simple.
